"Punchline: if we really care about the investigation and the analysis, we'll pay for it one way or another. Maybe it's a public good, a non profit function. Maybe a philanthropist puts up money for prizes. Maybe the Woodward and Bernstein of 2017 make so much money from breaking a story that it leads to a whole new generation of journalists."

I have to admit: I was late to the party.
Look up: "This is my 3,000th blog post. (In a row)."
Look down: "The content of the pages of this website is for your general information and use only. It is subject to change without notice."
Look out: "Infinity is just an idea."
Look around: "It's a difficult habit to break."
It can happen to you, it can happen to me, it can happen to everyone eventually. Thanks for reading me!
I haven't read Seth Godin's blog for months. Why? There is so much to learn.
"Why is it okay to have employees in any organization who look for a no?
The same thing happens with the tech crew before I give a speech. About 75% of the time, the lead tech guy (it always seems to be a guy) explains why it's impossible. Impossible to use a Mac, impossible to use the kind of microphone I like, impossible to use my own clicker, etc. And then, the rest of the time, using the same technology, the producer asks, 'how can I help make this work for us?' and everything is about yes, not no."
Seth Godin gets serious about solving our meeting problems:
"1 Understand that all problems are not the same. So why are your meetings? Does every issue deserve an hour? Why is there a default length?
2 Schedule meetings in increments of five minutes. Require that the meeting organizer have a truly great reason to need more than four increments of realtime face time.
Where is Europe flickr-wise? Continuing ...
Denmark, Austria, Slovakia, maybe Russia. That's it. Not even the UK. I am completely disappointed.
European Commission: We couldn't find any results tagged with José and Manuel and Barroso.
Here we go: Where is Europe flickr-wise? Starting with Germany and Switzerland ...
We couldn't find any results tagged with angela and merkel.
A few suggestions:
* Check your spelling.
* Remove filters from Advanced Search.
* Try more general words.
* Try different words that mean the same thing.

This is the 21st century. Hello? I know people my age and younger who do not even know how to pronounce the word flickr. Goodbye, Europe? Where is Angela Merkel? Where are Ueli Maurer, Micheline Calmy-Rey, Moritz Leuenberger, Hans-Rudolf Merz, Doris Leuthard, Pascal Couchepin, Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, Corina Casanova? Flickr-wise?
Intranets are getting more strategic, with increased collaboration support. Team size is growing by 12% per year, and platforms are becoming integrated, with a strong showing for SharePoint. Improving usability increased use by 106% on average.

From Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox:
"I recently sat through many sessions in which usability test participants attempted to use websites on their mobile phones. What a cringeworthy experience — for both users and researchers. In terms of the user experience quality we observed, it was like stepping into a time machine for a quick trip back to 1998. The similarities were numerous:
Have you met Björk?
Yes, actually I have. She gave me a copy of Volta that I am listening to all the time since. Especially track 1. Introduced me to Andri Snaer Magnason.
And gave me a kiss. I was surprised.
She smiled at me. And disappeared. I shouldn't have smoked that lava moss ...
But as my colleagues tell me: You are on a holiday. Enjoy what you smoke!
In contrast to everything else, this last sentence is true: All girls look like Björk here ...
"Search engines may think www.felgner.ch and felgner.ch are two different sites.You should set up a permanent redirect (technically called a "301 redirect") between these sites. Once you do that, you will get full search engine credit for your work on these sites.
For example, www.felgner.ch seems to have 3,844 inbound links whereas felgner.ch has 3,885 inbound links. By correctly configuring a permanent 301 redirect, the search rankings might improve as all inbound links are correctly counted for the website."
