&593/ Watch to Be Inspired (Revisited): Debunking Third-World Myths With the Best Stats You've Ever Seen

| View Comments |

We had this talk on June 9, 2007. I started reading Garr Reynolds back then and discovered TED via his blog!

Definitely: The best stats you've ever seen!

Lesson to learn from Hans Rosling: There is no relevance of a regional level!

Citing TED.com:

  • The talk. "You've never seen data presented like this. With the drama and urgency of a sportscaster, statistics guru Hans Rosling debunks myths about the so-called developing world."
  • The speaker. "Rosling began his wide-ranging career as a physician, spending many years in rural Africa tracking a rare paralytic disease (which he named konzo) and discovering its cause: hunger and badly processed cassava. Rosling developed the breakthrough software behind his visualizations through his nonprofit Gapminder, founded with his son and daughter-in-law. The free software - which can be loaded with any data - was purchased by Google in March 2007."
