&594/ Watch to Be Inspired (Revisited): New Insights on Poverty and Life Around the World

| View Comments |

An update to Hans Rosling's talk in &593/. Catching up with TED Talks from the year before: Data and information again - grandma-verified statistics!

Remember: There is no WE and THEM! Citing TED.com:

  • The talk. "Researcher Hans Rosling uses his cool data tools to show how countries are pulling themselves out of poverty. He demos Dollar Street, comparing households of varying income levels worldwide. Then he does something really amazing."
  • The speaker. "Rosling began his wide-ranging career as a physician, spending many years in rural Africa tracking a rare paralytic disease (which he named konzo) and discovering its cause: hunger and badly processed cassava. Rosling developed the breakthrough software behind his visualizations through his nonprofit Gapminder, founded with his son and daughter-in-law. The free software - which can be loaded with any data - was purchased by Google in March 2007."
